EDEN

April 19
Most of us woke up at our own leisure… sleeping in. So, yesterday someone had mentioned a potential snorkeling adventure and possibly going down to Eden for a day trip.  Almost 50km from Bega.  With our local guide Sven, we had a wonderful tour Eden’s surroundings, stunning views of Twofold Bay.  Went to the down to the wharf, and found some delicious fish and chips.  We ate loads of fatty foods.  Now the best for the arteries!  Then everyone went in different directions, exploring down at the beach, walking in downtown and enjoying a really hot day in Australia.  Lisa and I found a wicked shoe store, I found this adorable shoes for the reception.  A hundred dollars, knocked down to eighty dollars.  They remind me of sex and the city type of heels.  Walked down to the water and found the others digging for amethyst and treasures.  I spent hours collecting more shells and some beach glass.  Returned via Merimbula for some veggies and sweets, then we had some special lentils that made everyone laugh at dinner.  Had another camp fire, but in the end it was a great day amongst new and old friends.

The Port of Eden is the most southern declared Port in NSW, and services the south coast of NSW, including the towns of Bega, Merimbula, Bombala and Cooma. Folks in Photos: Kieran, Lisa, Kim, Sven, Natalie and Sam.  Picture below: Kieran, Kim and Sam pointing at the clouds.

April 18
As usual, after a full day of sailing comes the post-sailing aches and pains.  I was hurting with a couple of bruises.  Discovered the art of “water conservation” laundry this morning.  Instructions: wash load number 1, keep the water from the first load into a basin, empty machine… wash number 2 goes in with the saved soapy water.  Take the soapy water into buckets and feed it to the garden.  Now, take wash number 1 and put the wash on the rinse setting.  Save the water by pouring it in the basin, and use it to rinse wash number 2… feed the extra water to the plants or keep it to wash load 3.  Voila! That was laundry.  An interesting concept I anticipate on practicing in the near future.  While the laundry was doing it’s thing, I called Canada to speak to mom for her Birthday.  Sounds like everyone is doing well and keeping busy with the white fluffy stuff… snow. Sven and Lisa were expecting a visit from some friends from uni, they just finished a kayaking course… Kieran, Sam and Kim.  We quickly decided that we would go for a swim and fishing at Bournda beach.  We walked down to the beach near the lagoon, went up the sand duns and then went exploring the little island.  Also went for a quick swim in the surf… trying to ride the waves.  We then walked towards Sven where he was fishing… as we arrived he caught another Australian Salmon.  I tried beach fishing for the first time.  All of us watched the show ‘Dr. Who’… and then had a camp fire with ‘Canadian’ hot chocolate with marshmallows.
